Our thinking

The way we think shapes the way we work.

And the way we work shapes what we achieve.

At About Thinking, we're interested in the assumptions we make, the patterns we repeat and the possibilities we miss when we stop questioning the familiar.

Our Philosophy

A different question can change the game.

We're surprisingly good at getting better at things we've always done.

We refine processes. We add tools. We solve the same problems a little faster.

But improvement isn't always the same as progress.

Sometimes the breakthrough comes from questioning the problem, rather than finding another way to solve it.

That's the thinking behind About Thinking.

We believe curiosity, a willingness to challenge assumptions and the courage to try something different can change what's possible.

Flipstart Thinking

Flip the thinking. See something different.

Flipstart Thinking is part of the philosophy behind About Thinking.

It's about recognising that the way we frame a situation influences the answers we discover.

Change the perspective and new possibilities can emerge.

This isn't about being different for the sake of it.

It's about being curious enough to question what seems obvious, practical enough to test new ideas and willing to change direction when there's a better way.

Why AI Changes the Conversation

The future of work isn't just about faster tasks.

AI is challenging some of the assumptions we've made about how work needs to happen.

Tasks that once required separate steps, specialised effort or lengthy hand-offs may now be approached differently.

But access to powerful technology doesn't automatically lead to better work.

We still need to decide what matters, what good looks like, where human judgement is essential and how results should be verified.

That's why we believe the more interesting AI conversation is about redesigning work, not just adopting tools.

It brings together two questions:

What becomes possible when we change how we think?

What becomes practical when we change how we work?

The answers have the potential to reshape the way organisations create value.

What We Believe

  1. Curiosity before certainty.

The familiar answer isn't necessarily the best answer. Stay open to another perspective.

  2. Outcomes before activity.

Being busy isn't the same as creating value. Start with what you're trying to achieve.

  3. People before technology.

AI can assist, accelerate and expand possibilities. People remain accountable for the decisions and outcomes.

  4. Shared understanding before isolated effort.

Better results depend on people having access to the context, knowledge and decisions they need.

  5. Evidence before assumptions of success.

A faster result isn't automatically a better one. Test what works, learn and improve.

What might change if you looked at it differently?
